William Blazek Jr.

William Blazek, Jr., of Ames, Iowa, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2019, at the age of 81.
William (Bill) was born to parents William, Sr., and Evelyn (Jensen) Blazek on May 18, 1938, in Owatonna, Minnesota. In 1973, he married Joann Wilker. In December 1973, Bill and Joann moved to Ames, Iowa, where Bill was employed as a construction worker, building houses in the area. In 1977, their eldest son, Christopher, was born. Two years later their son, Adam, was born. In 1992, their daughter, Brittany, was born. After retirement, Bill enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Minnesota Vikings, playing cribbage and pinochle, building things, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Bill was always a jokester, and enjoyed making people laugh.

Bill is survived by his wife, Joann; his son, Christopher (Melinda) of Kelley, Iowa; his daughter, Brittany (Michael) Brown of Ames, Iowa; his grandsons, Parker (Chris and Melinda) and Adden (Adam); granddaughter Carlie (Adam); granddogs Nilla (Brittany and Mike) and Cy (Chris and Melinda); one brother, Robert; and two sisters, Susie and Pat. He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Adam; his brother, Emil; and his sister, Dorothy.

A celebration of life will be held at Kelley City Hall (1111 Grace Street, Kelley, Iowa) on Sunday, July 28, 2019, from 1 pm to 4 pm. A short ceremony will be held at 2:30. Refreshments will follow the ceremony. The family requests that guests wear dark green, as that was Bill’s favorite color.
