Ruth E. Fitch, 89, of Colfax, died Tuesday, January 29,2019, at Taylor House, Des Moines, IA.
The daughter of Frank L. and Nora E. (Pierce) Ricker. Ruth was born October 24, 1929. Ruth graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1947. On August 28, 1953, she was united in marriage to Leo I. Fitch.
She loved her family intensely and worked hard to keep them fed, clothed and sheltered. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy; known for being a faithful fan at their sporting events. She was employed many years and at various places. Ruth and Leo moved from Des Moines to rural Colfax in 1971. Ruth was savvy with the computer, canned garden produce, and baked from their fruit trees. She enjoyed drives in the country and Iowa sporting events.
Beloved by her husband, Leo, sister, Dorothy Sanson, Levittown, PA, and children Michael (Christine) Fitch, Randall (Valerie) Fitch ex-wife, Anne Fitch, Kimberly (Neil) Scully and Jeffrey (Jeanie) Fitch; grandchildren Mary Ann Fitch, Jennifer (Brad) Chiles, Jason Nesbit, Kelly (James) Vincent, Blake Fitch and Peter Fitch. Dr. Nicholas (Angela) Palmer and Hannah Palmer, Andrew Scully, Paul (Erica) Scully, Matthew (Amanda) Fitch, Danielle Fitch, Melissa (Dean) Phipps and 22 great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters.
