Darlene Bohlen

Darlene Elaine (Salge) Bohlen, 88, of Allison, Iowa, passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison surrounded by her loving family.

Darlene was born on a farm near Bristow, Iowa on February 16, 1930, the daughter of William L. and Minna C. Finke Salge. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church - Vilmar and she married William G. Bohlen there on May 2, 1954. She was employed as a Cashier at Opperman’s and B&W in Allison for twelve years. She then started a Daycare for children in her home for many years. After retiring, she enjoyed spending winters in Harlingen and Zapata, Texas with her husband. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Allison.

Darlene is survived by her husband of 64 years, William G. (Bill) Bohlen and her three daughters, Mary K. Bohlen (Pat Rule) of Allison, Patti (Warren) Hagen of Allison, and Julie (Tim) Miller of Charles City, Iowa. Five grandchildren, Brianna (Jeremy) Davis of Durant, Austin Wm. Hagen of Allison, Morgan Hagen (Sheldon Leavens) of Cedar Falls, Anika Miller (Rylan Bauermeister) of Seattle, Washington, and Taran Wm. Miller of Charles City, Iowa. Three great-grandchildren, Cannon Wm., Kolt, and Carly Davis of Durant, and a sister, Shirley Schroeder of Greene, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Don Salge, and sister Minna Louise Salge in infancy.

Per her wishes, her body was cremated and no visitation services will be held. A family memorial service will be held and inurnment will take place at Vilmar Cemetery at a later date.

Cards may be sent to P.O. Box 82, Allison, Iowa 50602. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be given to the American Cancer Society or the Autism Society of Iowa.
