Kenneth Barnell
Kenneth J. Barnell, 69, passed away unexpectedly on February 25, 2019. He was born June 17, 1949, in California. He was the son of Joseph and Hazel (Jones) Barnell.
Ken is survived by his wife, Jeanette(Farris), of 46 years. His three children Brigitte (Mike) Steimel, Kenny (Michelle) Barnell and Joe (Krista) Barnell and his grandchildren, Hannah, Hope, Hailey, Brynlee, Masen, Calvin and Madeline.
Ken enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandkids.
He served as a proud, volunteer Firefighter (EMT) for 28 years on the Fairfax Fire Department, other local EMS services, including the Linn County Hazmat team, served as Linn County’s Fire Fighter Association’s President, and volunteered in many other ways including teaching EMS/CPR, and with FEMA to assist with the rescue efforts of hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Reading non-fiction books was one of Ken’s favorite hobbies, along with Tae Kwon Do for many years. He was also a proud member of AA for more than 25 years, and enjoyed all the friends that he met there.
Ken’s family will be having a Celebration of Ken’s life on Friday, March 8th, 2019, from 4:00pm- 7:00pm, at the Fairfax Community Room, Located at 300 80th Street Court, Fairfax, Iowa 52228
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
