Our family's met as neighbors living on College Street in 1969. So I have memories of Bernie as a young girl through to my senior years now. What I can say about Bernie is her love for the Lord was clearly evident in all she ever said and did for me. She had a true servant heart. Throughout the many losses in our family Bernie AND Tom would be right there ready to meet a need with helping hands, wise counsel, prayer, or just quietly supporting. Always always available. I know her desire was for each and every member of my family to have a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. She was humble, patient, and kind as she persisted in this desire. What a joy it was to be able to share with her and Tom as one by one many of my family came to know salvation. I thank both Bernie and Tom for loving us in this way. I am certain when Bernie entered into the arms of Christ that His words were, "Well done good and faithful servant." We will not be able to attend the "celebration" Saturday but will be there in spirit. Our love to you all: Tom, Kim, Kelly, and Kris. Becky Webb Young and family.

Bernie was my prayer partner for many years. How we laughed and cried and prayed together! She was a gifted listener and my first experience with knowing that what I said and how I said it would be treasured, respected, and sealed in a treasure box. Tom, Kim, Kelly, Kris....you are still prayed for, by one who has not forgotten you. I cannot be with you Saturday but please consider this note your comforting hug.

Dear Tom, Kelly and family, I don’t even know where to begin. Bernie was such an influence in my life. I served as a volunteer under her and worked with her for a while at Naz and truly learned what a servants heart meant. And a prayer warrior. Her book with prayers inspired me to keep a prayer journal. What a legacy she has left for her family! I’m not able to come Saturday but you will all be in my prayers! Bernie, you were so loved and you will be missed!

Dear Tom, I was saddened to read of Bernie's death. Though our paths hadn't crossed often in recent years, I remember her fondly and have many good memories. You may remember, Bernie and I served together for several years on the Cedar Falls Bible Conference Board. As president, I looked to her a lot for wisdom, and a bit of humor during many late night meetings. She was a lovely Christian lady. May God bless you and your family during this time of loss and grief. Ed Baker

We knew Bernie from their time in Fiesta Village. They were a great addition to the park and were missed when the sold in 2015. Bernie always had a smile on her face and ready to help any way she could. Tom our thoughts are with you and your family. RIP Bernie.
