Gary L. Rouzer

Gary L. Rouzer left this earthly place to have a conversation with his Lord and Savior on April 10,2019.  He was born October 15, 1936 In Nevada, Iowa to Leta (Geisler) and Orville Rouzer.  He grew up in the Ankeny and Maxwell areas.

He graduated from Maxwell Community High School in May of 1955.  On April 6, 1956, he married Mary Frances Anderson (deceased).  They had one son, Monty.  Together, they traveled the lower 48 states camping in many campgrounds.

Gary served in the Iowa National Air Guard from 1954 to 1960.  He continued serving his country in the Air Reserves from 1960 to 1962.  He shared his military experiences with anyone who listened.

He was a loyal John Deere employee from April 1965 until his retirement at the end of May 1995.  He had experience in several different positions at John Deere but the one he liked the best was to drive the completed cotton pickers off the line and park them in a designated area.

He enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, square dancing, carpenter work, hunting, target shooting, telling jokes and his faithful canine companion, Ginger.

Gary was initiated as a Mason at Star Lodge 115 on March 3, 1973, as an Apprentice; passed to Fellow Craftsman on May 17, 1973; and raised to Master Mason on June 19, 1973.  He was a member of West Gate Adelphic Lodge 509 from March 29, 1973 to the present.  He was also a member of the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine in Altoona from the fall of 1985 to the present.  Driving children to the Shrine Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota gave him great joy.

On February 17, 2018, he married Elaine E. Stucky.  Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Elaine, son Monty (Paula) of Ames, Iowa, and granddaughter Lana, sister Marie Eckley of Medford, Oregon, brother Jim Parker of Escondido, California, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A celebration of life for Gary will be held on April 30, 2019 at 11 am at the Masonic Home Lodge in Pleasant Hill.  A luncheon will follow at that location after the services.  His final resting place will be beside Frances at Graham Cemetery, 13574 N. 71st Ave. W, Mingo, Iowa.
