William James Calland, 88, of Des Moines, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at his home in Des Moines. There will be a service in the future – details are pending.
William James Calland was born December 11, 1929, to James and Doris (Brown) Calland in Des Moines. On July 27, 1950, he married Irene Kay Gideon in Gowrie, IA. She preceded him in death in 2015. William was retired from Pirelli Armstrong where he worked as a maintenance mechanic.
Willliam is survived by his daughter Diana (Rick) Thompson of Indianola; daughter Denise Doughty of Des Moines; and son James (Dawn Love) Calland Sr. of Des Moines; sister Gwendolyn Madison; eight grandchildren, Mark Thompson of Des Moines, Jeff Thompson of Indianola, IA, Callie Doughty of Ankeny, IA, William Doughty of Des Moines, James Calland Jr. of West Des Moines, Ivan Calland of Redfield, IA, Ian Calland of Redfield, IA, a step-granddaughter LeeAnna Love of Des Moines; and one great-granddaughter, Quorra Calland; neices, nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Irene, brother Robert and daughter Deborah.
