Russell Gorton-Edwards, 65, of Allerton, IA (formerly of Hayward, WI), passed away Friday, March 30, 2018, surrounded by love at the Wayne County Hospital.
Russell Edwards was born on March 16, 1955 to Charles and Ellen (Sachs) Edwards in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. He is the fourth child out of five: his siblings include Bonnie (Bill) Cook, Debrah Edwards and Sharon Edwards, all of Shell Lake, WI.
He served two years in the United States Army during the Vietnam War (1972-1974).
He married Joanne (Wisner) and had a son Henry (Jennifer) Edwards of Roberts, WI. Then in 1991 he married Linda (Harper, Gorton) Edwards and they had a daughter Kareen Gorton-Edwards of Corydon, IA. He also had two stepchildren that he called his own: Lorena (Jeremy) Shaw of Tacoma, WA and Lawrence Gorton of the United States Army. He also had several grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both parents, a sister Karen Edwards, his grandparents, and his aunts and uncles.
He is being cremated. There will be a celebration of life on Monday, April 9 at 2:00 PM at New Beginnings Worship Center in Corydon.
