Donald E. Shields

Donald E. Shields died Friday, March 23, 2018. Don was born on December 14, 1929, in Logan, IA, son of Edward J. and Doris E. (Brownell) Shields. He grew up in Missouri Valley, Logan, Omaha, and Persia, graduating from Persia High School in 1947, University of Iowa in 1951, and the School of Banking.

Don began working at Rowley Savings Bank, Rowley, IA in 1951, and was Chairman of the Board at the time of his death. He was a member of the Iowa Bankers Association.

Don is survived by his wife, Nancy, his children, Greg (Karen) Shields, Rowley, IA, Pam (Craig) Clark, Cedar Rapids, IA, Jeff Shields, Independence, IA, his grandchildren, Kendra Shields, Ashland, WI, Ryan Clark, Marion, IA, Tyler (McKay) Clark, Cedar Rapids, IA, Noelle Clark, Cedar Rapids, IA, Abby (Luke) Miller, Cedar Rapids, IA,  his great granddaughter, Morgan Kurimski, Albia, IA, and his nieces, Janice Shields, Goodyear, AZ, Pat (Ron) Lemons, Arlington, TX.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Shields, his mother and stepfather, Doris and John Willard, his brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and LaVonne Shields.

A luncheon to honor and celebrate Don's life will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm at the Rowley Community Center, Rowley, IA.

A private family burial will be held at a later date.

The family has respectfully requested that any memorials may be directed to a charity of your choice in Don’s honor.
