He was born February 17, 1929 in Greely, IA to Thomas and Matilda Raible Holtz. He was retired auto body repairman and an Army veteran.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dolores Walker Holtz, who died in 1961 and his wife of 44 years Janet Ferguson Holtz. His brother Thomas and Gerald Holtz and sister Dolores Holtz Wilson.
He is survived by his brother Paul Holtz of Waterloo, IA, sisters Catherine Volz of Cedar Rapids, IA, Sister Lucille Holtz and Sister Matilda Holtz of Pittsburgh, PA. Four daughters and son-in-laws; Jeanne (Bud) Stanford of Ellijay, GA, Joni (Tom) Hoyland of Ellijay, GA, Katherine (Andrew) Springer of Citra, FL, and Lisa (Mike) Russell of Spring Branch, TX. Step-son and daughter-in-law Neil (Jeanie) Ferguson of Earling, IA, and step-daughter Donna Hillis of West Branch, IA. 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at St. Jude Catholic Church. Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, both in Cedar Rapids, IA.
