Christine Ladawn Lerch

Christine Ladawn Lerch, 53, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, June 22, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer, in Cedar Rapids. Through it all, she kept her faith, positive attitude, and always put her family and friends first.  A visitation will be held from 3-7 pm Sunday, July 8, 2018 at New City Church, 5335 Midway Drive NW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52405. Memorial Service: 10:30 am Monday, July 9, 2018 also at New City Church. 

Christine was born August 29, 1964, the daughter of Donald and Donna (Ellis) Winn, in Tuscan, Arizona. She graduated from Prairie High School in 1982, where she played softball and basketball. She continued to serve on her class reunion committee throughout the years. On May 2, 1992, she was married to Lonny Lerch in Cedar Rapids. Christine worked as a logistics manager for West Side Transport in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of New City Church in Cedar Rapids where she spent a great deal of her time volunteering. 

Christine had many hobbies including biking, running, and being outdoors. She also liked gardening and growing many different types of flowers. Lonny and Christine enjoyed several trips together and riding their motorcycles. More than anything, Christine loved her family. She will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband, Lonny Lerch; son Zach (Jesse) Lerch; daughter, Kelly (Chad) Ruegnitz; granddaughter, Layla Lerch; grandson, Carson Ruegnitz; mother, Donna Blackwell; and three sisters, Julie (Jim) Cruise, Stacy (Michell) Winn, Nancy (Keith) True; brothers-in-law, Larry (Janis) Lerch, Loren (Evonne) Lerch; sister-in-law, Linda (Lerch) Vitek; step-mother-in-law, Edith Seitz; and numerous nieces and nephews.   

She was preceded in death by her father; infant brother, Randy Scott; in-laws, Lawrence and Marie Lerch; and brother-in-law, Gary Vitek. 

Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial bench that will be placed along her favorite trail.
