As per her wishes, Iowa Cremation was entrusted with her cremation. Her family invites family and friends to a celebration of Linda's life on September 30, 2018, from 1:00 to 4:00 at Spring Lake Yacht Club, Cherokee, IA.  A family service will be held at a later date.  Interment at Cass Center Cemetery, Webster City, IA.

Linda will be lovingly remembered by her children Laurie (Bill) Bark, Brad Ades, David (Michael Eye) Ades, and John (Pam) Ades; her grandchildren Gabe (Jenni) Bark, Travis (Sara) Bark, Molly (Pat Dickes) Ades, Nick Praster and Ben Praster; her great-grandchildren Tyler, Finley, Abby, Keigan, Wyatt and Quincy.  She is also survived by Carl and Wilma Ades, Art and Carol Ades, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Her husband, Richard, preceded her in death, as well as her parents and siblings.

Linda was born Linda Lou Keigan on June 21, 1933 to Benjamin and Ina Keigan, the fifth of five children, in Webster City, IA.  She graduated from Litchfield High School, Litchfield, MN at the age of 16.  She then attended Minnesota Bible College where she was a member of a vocal trio that traveled the Midwest.   In 1951, she married the love of her life, Richard Ades.  Through 53 years of marriage, Linda and Dick raised their children and loved life.  From Lamoille to Maquoketa to Cedar Rapids to Cherokee, the two of them shared life's adventures.  Linda loved playing cards, riding their motorcycle with friends, gardening, fishing, boating, bowling, and golfing with Dick by her side.

The church was Linda's beloved home her entire life.  Her love for God was deep and brought her strength.  She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church, Maquoketa, Edgewood Church of Christ, Cedar Rapids, First Church of Christ, and Crossroads Christian Church, Cherokee.  A song was never far from Linda's lips or fingers.  She played the piano and sang to the end of her life, giving great delight to those who heard her.  Although Linda enjoyed all music, her favorites were hymns praising God's love.  She sang in all of her churches' choirs and would even join the choir of Holy Communion Lutheran Church while David lived in South Carolina.

Her passions were many.  Linda loved to cook incredible feasts for her family and friends.  There were "dibs" called at family reunions for her sour cream raisin pie.  Her grandsons will never forget her grilled cheese sandwiches.  Her granddaughter's favorite was Linda's special popcorn.  John and his friends will miss her meatloaf.  Linda's favorite food was chocolate and a special friend always kept her well-stocked.  After her retirement from the Mental Health Institute in Cherokee, Linda traveled weekly to watch her grandchildren's activities, always with a Texas Sheet Cake or a huge container of cookies for them.

Another passion of Linda's was sewing.  She took great pleasure over the years in the many ribbons she was awarded at the Cherokee County Fair for her exquisitely embroidered quilts. She also sewed beautiful clothing, but the project which gave her the greatest delight was the sewing of her daughter's wedding dress.

There were never enough hours in the day for Linda to accomplish everything she wanted to do.  Through the years, some of her favorite groups were the hospital auxiliary sewing and quilting group, Cherokee County Pheasants Forever, several bridge clubs, the Red Hat Society, many bowling teams, and Disabled American Veterans Commanders Club.  She was very proud of her husband's profession in the Iowa State Patrol and became a member of the Retired State Peace Officers Association.

Linda simply loved life.  Enjoying a boat ride with Dick, marveling at nature's beauty, or cuddling one of her many dogs made her smile and laugh.  Meeting new people was so much fun for her.  Her family often smiled and shook their heads when she would get off a plane having made friends with whom she kept in contact for years.  Right to the very end of her life, Linda made new friends who treasured her loving spirit.
