Violet M. Harris, 89, of Marion, Iowa, died Sunday, February 25, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Cary Dixon of Marion, Roxanne (Jeff) Braden of Marion, Ron Harris of Shellsburg, Steve (Angie) Harris of Iowa City and Wayne Harris of Marion; also surviving are 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and three brothers.
Violet May Smith was born July 4, 1928 in rural Palo Alto County, Iowa, the daughter of Roscoe and Fern (Johnson) Smith. Violet worked as a department manager at Sears and then Walmart for many years. As a young adult, she enjoyed driving dirt stock cars and demolition derby’s, and enjoyed the outdoors, especially flowers, hunting and fishing. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
