Shawn Kintzle

Shawn Kintzle, 56, of rural Prairieburg, died February 14, 2018 in his home surrounded by his beloved family. Per his request there will be no services at this time. A celebration of life will be held this summer.

Shawn was born June 16, 1961 to Harold and Gloria Kintzle. He graduated high school in Central City, class of 1980. He had a 30-year career as a fire protection sprinkler fitter as a member of Local 669. Shawn loved the outdoors and was an accomplished rock and mountain climber. He pioneered and published a popular guide for the Pictured Rock formations in Northeast Iowa. He enjoyed motocross and sponsored younger riders. He was a skilled glider pilot with the Blackhawk Soaring Club of Muscatine.

Shawn is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa, of nearly 34 years, his sons, Ian and Max of California, and Cameron (Amy), serving with the Air Force in Guam. He is also survived by his parents, Harold and Gloria Kintzle, of Prairieburg, his brother, Brian (Sara) Kintzle, of Central City, and his three sisters: Lori (Ross) Laser, Glencoe, IL, Kristi (Howard) Nixon, Glencoe, IL, and Amy Scaglione, Ardmore, PA, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ben and Betty Dolan, Carl and Coletta Kintzle, and an infant grandson, Easton.

For those wishing to honor Shawn’s memory, we invite you to contribute to any of the causes dear to his heart: Public Television, NPR, National Parks, or Wildlife Preservation.

May the Force be with him, always.
