Judith was born on Oct 17, 1934 in West Des Moines, Iowa to Austin and Margaret Wood. She served in the US Navy 1952-1956. Family was the most important thing in her life. Her hobbies and passions included cooking, reading, games (loved poker), and especially family gatherings.
Left to cherish her memories: husband of 46 years Richard H. Sommer; sons Jeff (Barb) Brenner, Joel Brenner, daughter-in-law Valerie Busse, stepsons Jeff Sommer, Chris Sommer, stepdaughters Dawn (Jake) Drake, Laurie (Randy) Pittman; 20 grandchildren; 6 great- grandchildren; Brother Jay (Nancy) Wood, Mark (Mary) Wood, half-sister Madonna (Kirk) Bortle, step-mom Roemell Wood.
Preceded in death by: her parents; brothers Roger and Jeffrey Wood; son Jamie Brenner; nephews Casey Wood and Matt Wood.
A family graveside service at Jordan Cemetery in West Des Moines will be held at a date yet to be determined.
