Shirley Hearn

Shirley Hearn, 81, of Monticello, died peacefully, with her loving husband of 64 years by her side on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Pinicon Place in Anamosa. Hours later, her oldest son, Mark Hearn, also passed away.

Funeral services are pending.  Iowa Cremation is assisting the family of Shirley Hearn.

Shirley was born on Feb. 7, 1937, to Richard and Margaret (Eilers) Tuetken in Monticello.  She attended Monticello schools.  On Aug. 24, 1953, she married Roger Hearn in Iowa City.  

Roger and Shirley owned Roger Hearn Shell Service and Roger Hearn FS where Shirley worked as bookkeeper for many years. After selling the business, Shirley worked at Long Drug in Monticello until her retirement. She and Roger enjoyed attending bluegrass festivals and traveling to Branson, Mo. to enjoy the music there. She also enjoyed making pie for her family, especially on birthdays and holidays.

Surviving is her husband, Roger; children: Eric (Ann) Hearn of Cedar Rapids; and Jill (Tracy) Cigrand of Monticello; her daugher-in-law Tina McCoy Hearn of Iowa City; her grandchildren, Cara Edmond of Austin, Texas and her children Cormac and Charlotte; Keeley (Adam) Sullivan of Seattle, Wash. and her children Liam and Hudson; Nick (Trinity) Cigrand of Cedar Rapids and their son Dexter; Genevieve Cigrand of Onslow and her daughter Katalina; and step-grandchildren: Eric (Sara) Zichterman of Cedar Rapids and their children Reid and Allie; Brad (Paula) Zichterman of Vernonia, Oregon; and Melissa McCoy of North Liberty; her brother Phil (Judy) Tuetken of Monticello, and sister Janet (Bob) Sion of Marion; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law Paul Hearn and mother-in-law Esther Hearn Schneider; her sisters in-law Eleanor Adamson and Mary Parker, and brother in-law Gilbert Hearn.

The family would like to thank the staff of Pinicon Place and Above and Beyond Hospice Care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Make a Wish.
