Eric deRonnebeck

Eric deRonnebeck, 47, of Waverly, Iowa passed away peacefully April 25, 2018 at the Cedar Valley Hospice House after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

A public Celebration of Life will take place from 1:00 P.M.-3:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at The Checkered Flag in Independence, Iowa. Per Eric's wishes, he was cremated, and a family ceremony will take place at a later date at Lake Tahoe.
Iowa Cremation in Cedar Rapids, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.

Eric's survivors include his mother, Tonya Caswell of Poulsbo, Washington, his father and stepmother, Robert and Mary deRonnebeck of Lakeville, Minnesota, his brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Ginger deRonnebeck of Ovando, Montana, a niece and nephew, Kyle and Abby deRonnebeck of Ovando, Montana, Preston Loomis of Ovando, Montana, Rusty and Bobbie Loomis of Montana, his great nephews, Travis and Tucker Loomis of Montana, three stepbrothers, Brian Jensen of Lakeville, Minnesota, Jesse and Veronica Caswell of Crawfordsville, Indiana, Jarred and Christina Caswell of Thornton, Colorado, a stepsister and her husband, Stacie and Dave Thomas of Farmington, Minnesota. Eric is also survived by his special friend, Lisa Slocum, and his Iowa family, Betty, Keith, and Laurie DeGroote of Parkersburg, Iowa, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Eric was preceded in death by his stepfather, Micheal Caswell, his stepmother Sharron Ketterling, and by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Eric was born in Reno, Nevada. He was raised and received his formal education in Billings, Montana. After graduating from high school, Eric attended Olympia College and worked as an electrician apprentice in Poulsbo, Washington. He later relocated to Waterloo, Iowa, and was most recently employed by J&J Metal Spinning in New Hartford, Iowa.

Eric was a musician, playing bass guitar. He also loved hunting, fishing, cooking, and visiting with his friends. Eric will always be remembered for his generosity, positive outlook on life, and his great sense of humor.

Eric's family and friends would like to thank his great team of doctors at the University of Iowa Hospitals, and to the helpful and caring staff at Cedar Valley Hospice.
