Carol Hinton

Carol K. Hinton, 73 of Cedar Rapids died Tuesday April 3, 2018 at her home. Per Carol’s request there will be no public services. Inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include a son Michael (Ruby) Koshatka; a daughter Janelle (Doug Dawson) Koshatka all of Cedar Rapids and a sister Joanne (John) Sharp of Decorah. She is also survived by three grandchildren; Andrew (Elizabeth), Casey (Jordan), and Alicia; and three great grandchildren Madelyn, Alexander and Matthew. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son Wayne Koshatka, one sister and two brothers.

Carol was born on March 7, 1945 in Cresco the daughter of Henry and Adeline Halweg. She married Byron Hinton on September 28, 1971 in Rock Island, Illinois. Byron passed away in 2001.

Carol worked as a bartender at the Blue Collar Lounge for many years. She enjoyed working puzzles, playing computer games, crafts and was noted for being a great cook. Carol will be forever remembered as a wonderful and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. 

A memorial fund has been established in Carol’s name.
