Chris was born March 16, 1986 in Storm Lake, Iowa. At 3 months-old, he was diagnosed with a liver disease, Biliary Atresia, and underwent the surgery to save his life. Chris spent most of his educational years in New Hampton and Charles City. In 2011, Chris knew he was very sick and was told his liver was failing. He was put on the Liver transplant list and received his new liver on Dec 2, 2015. Early this year, the liver began to fail in which ultimately led to his death.

Chris loved his niece Hayden very much and could never tell her “no”. Chris also loved animals and volunteered at the Animal Rescue League. His dog “Boz” was his best friend and companion. He also enjoyed fishing on the Cedar River. He also liked to spend time 4-wheeling and going to the drag races with his dad.

Chris was an organ donor and gave his eyes so that someone else may have the opportunity to see. Someday we hope we will get to see those eyes again.

A celebration of life will be held at the AMVETS at 706 Colleen Rd, Evansdale, Iowa on Oct 14 from 5-9 pm. His last wishes were for anyone who rides motorcycles to ride to the celebration. He also requested everyone “raise a glass” in his honor. Memorials may be made to the family for funeral expenses to Duane Bruess P.O. Box 75 Deep River, IA 52222 or Dee Grimm 87 Holiday Lodge Rd North Liberty, IA 52317.

Special thanks to all the Dr.’s, Nurses, CNA’s, and staff in the GI clinic, the transplant team, the Palliative Care team and the Hospice team at the University of Iowa. He was very fond of all of you and the family appreciates the cares and comforts you expressed to all of us during this time.
