D’Wayne Casper, of Bussey, IA, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at his home.
D’Wayne William Casper was born to Raymond Wayne Casper and Martha (Stine) Casper on December 14, 1945 in Monroe, Iowa. On December 14, 1968, D’Wayne married Barbara Edsill in Des Moines.
D’Wayne will be missed by his wife Barbara; son DeWayne Casper of Des Moines, daughter Martha (Mark) Hanley of Bussey and step-son Garry (Cindy) Hayes of West Des Moines; thirteen grandchildren (Danisha, Nicolas, Ashley, Rebecca, Stephanie, Garry III, Roger, Mark Jr., Allen, Dakota, Jaimee, Marissa, and Emma); ten great-grandchildren (Cole, Chasey, Ethan, Sophie, Alice, Cloie, Landon, Bently, Skye and Addrean); siblings Raymond Leroy Casper of Colfax, Randall Gene Casper of Fremont, IA, Richard Lee Casper of Hayesville, IA, Danny Faye Casper of Albia, IA, Anna Mae Wright of Coal Valley, IL, Carol Kay Major of Corpus Christi, TX, Linda Lou Delin of Ankeny, IA and Candice Marie Price of Crescent, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepdaughter Tane Denise Christian, granddaughter Chrystal, and siblings Donald Raye, Jimmy, Mary, Neva and Cindy.
D’Wayne was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy after serving from January 1963 to January 1965. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and could sniff out a mushroom from a mile away. He spent hours playing cards with family and friends and had the occasional family feud over who cheated the most at Pepper. He was an excellent gardener after retiring from over the road trucking.
