Roberta Petersen
The Lord called Roberta Jo Petersen home, 74, of Waverly on Saturday May 6th at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community of natural causes.
Roberta (or some may know her as Bobbie Jo) was born on June 12, 1942. She was the daughter of Roy and Opal (Chestnut) Shepherd.
She married her high school sweetheart Roger Dean Petersen on April 19, 1959.
Survivors: Her husband, 1 daughter Renee (Tim) Neil of Plainfield, 2 sons - Roy (Kathleen) Petersen of Waverly, Ryan (Heather) Petersen of rural Shell Rock, 7 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren with one on the way.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Roy Shepherd and Opal Shepherd Hesse, 1 sister Wanda (Jim) Olson of Milwaukee, WI and 1 brother Verlyn in infancy.
Her remains have been cremated and a Celebration of Life Open House will be on Weds May 10th from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the Lutheran Services Spiritual Life Center (Bremwood 106 16th St S.W.).
Memorials may be directed to the family, Cedar Valley Hospice or Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community.
Roberta’s blessing were her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Her kids will remember her by her love of reading, sewing, crafting, floral making, pea salad, rhubarb custard pie and her loving spirit. She made desserts without ever tasting sugar. Her Grandchildren will remember her by her sleep overs, Christmas crafting, her sips of “Kava” coffee and her unconditional love.
