Mr. James Vaughn, of Essex, IA, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017 at the Shenandoah Hospital in Shenandoah.
James Edward Vaughn, Sr. was born to Henry William Vaughn and Jesse (Earl) Vaughn on February 7, 1931 in Sidney, Iowa. James worked as a welder at multiple places, spending eighteen-and-a-half years at the Cattleman’s Foundry and Manufacturing in Council Bluff, Iowa. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. James enjoyed visiting with family and friends, hunting, fishing, model airplanes and model trains.
James will be missed by his sons James E. Vaughn, Jr. (Shelley) of Emerson, IA and Howard Vaughn (Shaun) of Sidney, Iowa; daughter Jackie Hillibran (Dave) of Loganville, GA; eight grandchildren—Ashlee Vaughn, Justina Reeves (Denny), Ginny Vaughn, Brandon Vaughn (Nancy), Dawnelle Vaughn, Cheyenne Vaughn, Amanda Hillabran, and Justin Hillabran; and great-grandchildren Quinn, Logan, Connor Poorkier, Jaylyn, Jasmun, Jaxon Reeves, Josh and Shawnna Vaughn, Alexis Lieb, Brooklyn Ballenger Riot, Bryce, Brianna, and Bray Schmeilau. He was preceded in death by his parent, sisters Norma Heindl and Susan Marie Schmeilau, grandsons Ronald and Mike Schmeilau and nephew Ernie Heindl.
