Marian Tadlock, of Spirit Lake, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Hawkeye Care Center in Spirit Lake. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake at a later date. Memorials can be directed to the United Methodist Church in Colo, IA; the Hawkeye Care Center in Spirit Lake, IA; or the Cure Alzheimer’s fund in Wellesley Hills, MA. 

Marian Arlys Dreyer was born to Edward R. Dreyer and Mary Ethel (Bundy) Dreyer on February 8, 1925 in Gretna, NE. On November 28, 1944, Marian married Kieth Vernon Tadlock at the United Methodist Church in Lincoln, NE. She earned a teaching certificate from Nebraska Wesleyan, a BS in Education from Northwest Missouri State, and took thirty extra credit hours to earn her library major.  She was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.   Marian worked as an elementary school librarian in Exira, Battle Creek, and Nevada, IA. She lived in ten different locations in her life: Ashland, NE, Lincoln, NE, Wausa, NE, Thurman, IA, Stanton, IA, Exira, IA, Ida Grove, IA, Colo, IA, Barefoot Bay, FL and Spirit Lake, IA. 

Marian enjoyed reading, painting, sewing, hand work, stamping, genealogy, photography, and basket weaving. She was a member of the P. Buckley Moss Society, the Women’s Federated Club, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.  She often attended the Writer’s workshop in Iowa City.  

Marian is survived by her husband Kieth of Spirit Lake; daughters Lynn (Robert) Peterson of Okoboji, IA, Karen Stone (fiancé Jimmie Stewart) of Jacksonville, FL, Terry (Susan) Tadlock of Palm City, FL, and Kent (Mary) Tadlock of Aurora, CO; nine grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.
