Shawn Burt
Shawn Joel Burt died peacefully in Waterloo on July 25th at Allen Hospital in Waterloo Iowa at the age of 54.
Shawn is survived by his daughter, Alexandria Pircer of Virginia Beach; a sister, Dawn Widmann of Waterloo; two brothers, Kerry Burt (Kim Griffith) of Waterloo; and Kevin Burt (Nicole) of Coralville; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Joel Burt, mother Darlene Burt of Waterloo and niece Dawn Burt II.
Shawn was born on January 26th, 1963 in Waterloo, IA to Joel and Darlene Burt. He graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1981, and graduated at Upper Iowa University with a degree in Political Science. He worked as a firefighter at the Waterloo Fire Department, and later retired due to a disability. He also loved to play & perform on the bass with his brother Kevin Burt. Shawn enjoyed watching his daughter Alex grow up and excel and coming to the many sports which she was involved in. They had a very close relationship. Shawn also enjoyed playing basketball, watching reality judge shows, and texting.
A celebration of life is scheduled for September 2nd, 2017 from 11:00 to 2:00 PM at Waterloo Arts Center. Close friends and family are welcome to attend and celebrate Shawn’s life. Condolences may be sent to 1609 W 19th St, Cedar Falls Iowa 50613.
