Kenneth E Broughton

Kenneth E. Broughton, 66, of rural New Sharon, died on July 27, 2017, in his home following an extended illness.  Per Kenny’s wishes, no services will be held.
 
Survivors include his wife of over 44 years, Kathy; his children, Joshua J. (Susan) Broughton of Des Moines, and Tammy Lee (Sean) Hill of New Sharon; his grandchildren, Dominick and Natalie Artwein, Maleah (Eric) Carnahan, Sheyenne Hill, Brandon (Natalie) Rash, Elizabeth Rash, Fayeanna Guthrie and a future great grandbaby.  He is also survived by his siblings, Jerry Broughton, Robert Broughton, Dennis (Rhonda) Broughton, and Barb (Geoff) DeMaria.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Francis Broughton, and his sister, Kathy Lundy.
 
Kenny was born on December 31, 1950 in Des Moines.  He was united in marriage to Kathy Jodell Martin on January 13, 1973 in Pleasantville.  He worked for over 30 years for Vermeer in Pella.  Kenny enjoyed hunting, fixing cars, and most importantly time spent with his beloved family.  He was a man of few words, but when he talked everyone listened.  He was an intelligent man and problem solver.  Kenny always put his family first and dedicated his life to making sure is family was all taken care of.  He was a very special man that was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.
