Marla Jo Griffith
Marla Jo Griffith, 60, of Solon, passed away January 10, 2017, after fighting cancer for several months. According to her wishes, there will be no funeral services, but rather a Celebration of Life in the spring or early summer, when the flowers are blooming.
Marla was born on Valentines Day, 1956 and raised in Clio, Iowa. She is survived by her husband, Steve, father, Dean and sisters Rita and Rhonda, and lots of loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jo and her sister, Marsha.
Marla moved to Cedar Rapids in 1974, and shortly thereafter, as fate (or Karma) would have it, moved into an apartment house also occupied by Steve. They moved to the country in 1975, were married in 1976, and lived a wonderful and very full life. Marla was particularly fond of animals—both her four cats and all of the birds, deer, squirrels and others that she fed and adored—her nieces and nephews called her “Snow White”. She was the kindest person that any of us knew and will be both deeply missed and fondly remembered.
In lieu of flowers, please address any memorials to either the Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center or the World Wildlife Fund.
