Wayne Frederick LaVelle 79, of Parkersburg, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at his home in Parkersburg.
A memorial service to honor Wayne LaVelle will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building on Colfax Street in Parkersburg Iowa. This is a time for sharing and remembering Wayne's life. . Cremation rites were accorded by Iowa Cremation.
Wayne was born December 3, 1937 in Emmettsburg, Iowa, son of Vernon and Maurene (O’Connor) LaVelle. He married Jo Wanda Tucker at St. Andrews Cathedral in Little Rock, Arkansas on November 27, 1958. He graduated from Dunkerton High School in 1955, and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 through 1959. He worked for Iowa Public Service/Midwest/Mid-American Energy for 33 years, retiring in 1996 after becoming disabled. Wayne enjoyed traveling, fishing on the Mississippi back waters, birdwatching, beekeeping, hunting morel mushrooms, and visiting with family and friends.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 58 years, three sons, Bryan (Maggie), Dave (Karen), Robert (Suean) and three daughters, Susan Jansen, Rhonda (Jeff) Reisinger and Maureen (Dan) Crotty; 16 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren; 7 1/2 great grandchildren and 6 step-great grandchildren; a sister, Sharon Neff and a brother-in-law, Bernard Musch.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Donna Lee Musch.
