Nicholas John Ficchi

Nicholas John Ficchi was born in Manhattan, New York, May 25,1953; died December 16, 2017 at the age of 64 after a long hard fought battle with cancer.

At age 11 moved to Staten Island, N.Y.  along with his mother Virginia, 2 sisters Rosanna and Florence and brother Peter. He attended Ralph R. McKee High School. Moved to Tuscon, Arizona in 1980 and later to Cedar Rapids in 2008.

He is preceded in death by his mother Virginia Ficchi, father Peter Ficchi Sr., and sister Rosanna LoCasto. He is survived By wife Ellen (Ford) Ficchi, son Christopher Ficchi, daughters Lindsay Baroody and Cory Hadler, Brother Peter Ficchi Jr. and sister Florence Prado, Nieces and nephews and 6 grandchildren: Amanda, Christopher, Mason, Ruby, Bela and Leo.

He was an active member of Immanuel Church led Bible study and sang in the choir. Nick was a man of God. His faith in the Lord was unshaken. He was a wonderful husband, brother, son, and father. Nick loved “his girls” and would do anything for them. He was admired for his sense of humor and his selflessness. Making those around him happy is what made Nick happy. Even at his expense, because it was worth it to him, to know he gave comfort or joy to others.

When you ask his 5 year old grandson what he remembers most about his Grandpa Nick, his fondest memories of his Grandpa were playing board games with him. It is the simplest things in life that mean so much. Simply giving our loved ones our time is the greatest gift we can give and Nick did just that with all of us.

Thank you Nick …we love you.
