Monica Huelman Zaruba, 40, died December 10, 2017, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Monica Amber was born October 14, 1977, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Ken and Regina Huelman.
She grew up and attended Vinton-Shellsburg school, graduating in 1996. Monica attended Iowa State University in Ames and played on the women's basketball team from 1996-2000. She earned a degree in horticulture. She was currently employed by Country Landscapes at Ames and North Liberty. She married Terry Zaruba July 30, 2011.
She is survived by her husband Terry, her parents, Ken and Regina Huelman, her sister Andrea Naillon and her mother-in-law Linda Zaruba and father-in-law Tom Zaruba, brothers-in-law Mike Naillon, Troy Zaruba and Tim Zaruba, sisters-in-law Theresa Zaruba and Amy Zaruba and nieces Taylor, Caspien, and Alexis Zaruba and Josie Naillon.
Visitation 3-8pm Sunday December 17. Funeral mass 10:30 am Dec. 18, 2017. Both at St Mary's Catholic Church, Vinton, IA
