Herman Grosskruger
Herman L. Grosskruger, 85, of Pharr, Texas, passed away Dec. 1, 2017.
Herman was born Nov. 3, 1932, to John and Agnes Grosskruger and grew up in rural Spragueville, IA. Herman was a Korean War Veteran. In 1958 hemarried Thais Keeney and to this union was born David Grosskruger, Maquoketa; Paul (Claudia) Grosskruger, Fleming Island, FL; Mark (Myrna) Grosskruger, Bellevue. Herman farmed in the Andrew area as well as worked for and retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company.
In 1992 Herman married JoAnn Schafer Sorenson and together started spending winters in South Texas, eventually living there full time until his death. Those left to honor his memory are his wife JoAnn, his children, and his step-children: Angela (Randy) Evans of Johnston, IA; Kimberly Schrierof Clarinda, IA; Kristi (Mike) Trapp of San Antonio, TX; six grandchildren:Grant (Jenny Kilburg) Grosskruger, Grace (Austin) Mohr, Garrett Grosskruger, Jerry (Lisa) Grosskruger, Jennifer Grosskruger, and Austin Leonard; and one great grandson: Mason Mohr.
Herman never met a stranger. He could drink a cup of coffee and reminisce with just about anyone. He loved his grandkids, he loved to play cards, he loved to rake hay, and he loved his dog, Moose.
A service will be held at a later date with internment at the Andrew Cemetery. Memorials should be directed to Honor flight of the Quad Cities.
