Herbert L. Eckert

Art was a wonderful volunteer at the Indian Creek Nature Center and other places. It is little known but while helping build a bridge at the Nature Center in 1988 Art saved a young man's life. I just wrote up details and would be happy to email this to anyone contacting me. I was saddened to learn of his death. Rich Patterson, Director Emeritus, Indian Creek Nature Center

Our deepest sympathies go to the family! We are only glad we were able to share in his birthday celebration, which he seemed to enjoy immensely. We'll be making donations to the suggested organizations; they will notify you, I'm sure--Cindy and Janak

I am deeply sorry to hear of Uncle Herbert's passing. He was a great man, always willing to help others. And he was a stimulating conversationalist to the end. I always enjoyed my talks with him on a wide range of topics when I was in Cedar Rapids on my yearly visits. I'm very glad I was able to spend some time with him in June this year. I shall really miss him. I will be making donations in his honor. Nancy Thompson
