Genevieve Andres, 97, passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 at East Towne Care Center in Independence, Iowa.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church in Independence.  Inurnment will follow at the Fremont Township Cemetery, north of Winthrop.

Genevieve was born June 1, 1920 in Calder, Saskatchewan, Canada to Bert Samuel and Veronica Elizabeth (Reles) Schweitzer.  She was united in marriage to Edward Emil Andres on March 2, 1945 in Waterloo, Iowa.  To this union, three children were born.

Genevieve was a loyal employee of Security State Bank.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and playing cards.  She loved to read.  She will be dearly missed by those who loved her.

She is survived by her children: Veronica “Roni” (Lowell) Schultz of Independence; Michael (Shirley) Andres of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; and Darcy (Mary) Andres of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren: Bradley (Brandy) Schultz of Iowa; Michelle (Dave) Bartels of Texas; Darby (Mike) Bonwell of Iowa; Matthew Andres of Texas; Nicole (Greg) Vasquez of Colorado; Lindsay (Tom) Policano of Minnesota; and Trenton Andres of Minnesota; and twelve great-grandchildren, and one expected in January.

Also surviving are her brother Jack (Maxine) Schweitzer of Independence; and sisters-in-law Jeanette Schweitzer of Independence and Betty Schweitzer of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1959, and siblings Burnita, William, and Max.
