Francis Cox
Francis Edwin Cox, 89 of Manchester, Iowa passed away in his home August 22, 2017 after a long battle with cancer.
Services will be Saturday, August 26, 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Manchester. Friends may greet the family prior to service from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the church.
Francis was born on the Cox family farm in Oneida, Iowa to George and Letha (Hutson) Cox on July 27, 1928. As a young man he drove a semi for Hutchison Lumber and then sold insurance for Delaware County Mutual-Sill Agency for 30 years.
Francis is survived by his wife, Jeanne, of 67 years; three children, Beth (Jeff) Lines of St. Charles, Missouri; Susan (Clark) Tyrrell of Manchester; and Mark (Jane) Cox of Vincennes, Indiana. Nine grandchildren: Adam (Brittany) Tyrrell of Marshalltown, Iowa; Keith (Stacey) Welsh of Dubuque, Iowa; Jessie (Dave) Jaffe of Los Angeles, California; Erin (friend Brian) Welsh of St. Charles, Missouri; Nikki (Chris) Hatfield of Owensboro, Kentucky; Breeze (Terry) Johnson, Casey (Adam) Mattingly, Laura (Steve) Hess all of Vincennes, Indiana; and Brandon (Ashley) Lines of Aviano AFB, Italy. Also surviving are twelve great-grandchildren, and one sister, Lois Culbertson of Sherrill, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers Milner, Gordon, and Merle Cox, and one sister Phyllis Hakenson.
The family would like to thank their precious family and friends, Dr. Samuel Wood, Dr. Deb Wilber, Laurie, Jean, Jessie, and Gayle. Also Marilyn and all of the dear nurses, aides and staff at RM Hospice. You have been a blessing to us.
