Clarice Norton
Clarice Kathryn Norton, 84, of Anamosa, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Anamosa Care Center, with her family by her side. The family will greet friends at the Lawrence Community Center in Anamosa from 1-4 pm Sunday, September 3, 2017, with a short prayer service beginning at 2:00 pm.
Clarice was born June 8, 1933, the daughter of Reinder and Anna (Boedeker) Wessels, in Amber, Iowa. She graduated from Anamosa High School in 1952. Clarice married Wilfred Neil “Bud” Norton on July 2, 1954. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. At times she was a stay at home mother, but also worked for Rockwell Collins, the Anamosa Community School District, and the Wapsipinicon Country Club, where she and Bud were lifelong members. Clarice delighted in the Red Hat Society. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Iowa Hawkeyes and the Anamosa Raiders. Her greatest love of all was her family. She was a well-respected woman with a very gentle heart. Clarice will be missed by all those who loved her.
Survivors include her four children, Wendy (John) Capron, Kimberly McNamara, Joni (Scott) Oltmanns, Eric Norton; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Mary Norton; sister-in-law, Vivian Norton; and a very dear friend, Marna Gaye Ketelsen.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four siblings; son-in-law, Doug McNamara; and a brother-in-law, Allen Norton.
Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that is how I will remember you all. If you can only remember me with tears, then don’t remember me at all.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in memory of Clarice.
