Jon McCauley

Jon Patrick McCauley, 66, of rural Palo passed away peacefully on October 10, 2016, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Per Jon’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family

Jon was born June 19, 1950 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Paul and Barbara (Muetzel) McCauley. He was a lifelong resident of the Cedar Rapids area, attending Roosevelt and Jefferson Schools. After high school, Jon spent two years traveling extensively through Europe, across the Mediterranean, and into the Middle East. It was an experience he treasured throughout his life. While working at Harnishfeger, Jon developed an interest for computer manufacturing, and eventually became a very successful N.C. Programmer and Consultant at LeFebure and C.E.I. Equipment, retiring in 2012.

Jon is survived by his twin sister, Janet (Brian) Walters, of Urbandale, IA; brother-in-law, David Kelsey, of Riverside, CA; Nephews, Ben (Karen) Jayne, Ryan Jayne, Randy Reynolds and Erik Reynolds; an Aunt, Jackie Wims and numerous cousins.
Also surviving are his two dearest friends; Dennis Kreutzer, of Cedar Rapids, IA and Renee Case, of Hiawatha, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Neil McCauley, and his sister, Lynne Kelsey.

Jon will be remembered for his contagious laugh and quick-witted responses, and also the love he had for all his canine and feline companions.

A special thanks to the Unity Point Hospice staff for the excellent care Jon received in his last weeks.
