Rickie Lee “Smiley” Schmidt, 61, of Fairfield, Iowa entered into new life on November 3, 2016.
He was born on August 10, 1955 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Byron C. “Barney” Schmidt and A. Marie Black Henry. He lived in Batavia, Keosauqua, and the last ten years in Fairfield.
He is survived by his best friend and the love of his life, Kim Kurtz; his two sons Jason of Dauphin, Pennsylvania and Tyson of Prairie City, Iowa; his daughter Nicole of Chesapeake, Virginia; three grandsons: Camden, Henry, and Tyler Christer; and three brothers: Byron of Mansfield, Texas; Brett and Scott of Batavia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
He was an avid fan of NASCAR and Jeff Gordon.
Per his wishes, he was cremated. A memorial service and inurnment of his remains will be held at a later date.
