John Krull

John Krull, 88, of rural Grundy Center, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  A memorial service, with military rites, will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 10:30 AM, with a visitation an hour prior, at First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center.  Pastor Mike Campbell will be the officiant.  The family invites you to a luncheon at the church following the services.

John Krull was born on January 7, 1928 to Chris and Delia Neihaus Krull in Grundy County.  He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.  He graduated from Grundy Center High School in 1945.  John was united in marriage to Vera McCreery on March 12, 1955 at Amity Church in rural Reinbeck, Iowa.  To this union four children were born.  John was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the American Legion in Grundy Center.  He worked as a farmer for his whole life as well as a breeder of Red Angus Cattle for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Vera; daughters, Kristi (James) Ruzicka of Grundy Center and Cheryl (Ric) Mercuri of Gig Harbor, WA; four grandchildren, JR Major of New Canaan, CT; Scott Stephenson of Ankeny; Alexa Krull of Los Angeles, CA; and Lauren Mercuri of Gig Harbor, WA; one great grandchild, Penelope; and sister, Verdene (Harm) Rust of Grundy Center.

John was preceded in death by his parents and children, Michael Krull in 2002 and Cynthia Stephenson in 2007.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the family.
