Joyce Boyd
Joyce E. Boyd, 89 of Cedar Rapids died Saturday May 28, 2016 at the West Ridge Care Center. Memorial services at 11:00 AM on Saturday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. There will be a visitation from 9:00-11:00. Rev. Randy Kasch will officiate. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her children: Susan (Jeff) Witt of Blaine, Minnesota, Steve (Connie) of Slater, Deb Gardner of White Bear Lake, Minnesota and Jeffrey (Julie) of Troy Missouri. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, David (Nikki) and their son Townes, Sarah, Daniel (Diana), Brandt, Tim, Laura, Andrew, Jessica (Darron), and Courtney. She was preceded in death by a brother Don and a sister Lois.
Joyce was born on January 14, 1927 in St. Paul, Minnesota the daughter of William and Emma Brandt Wakeland. She married Otis S. Boyd Jr. on August 28, 1947 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Otis (Buz) passed away in 2009.
Joyce was a charter member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and past president of the Linn County Food Bank. She enjoyed reading, volunteering, and traveling with her husband throughout the United States and Europe. Her greatest enjoyment however was the time spent with her beloved family and many friends. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be given to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
