Dorothy "Dot" Mobley

Dorothy  (“Dot”) Mobley, 81, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2016 in La Porte City, Iowa, following an extended illness.  Dot was born on 12/2/34 in Birmingham, Alabama, to Rachel (Durham) Mobley and John Mobley.  She attended Atherton High School in Louisville, Kentucky and graduated with a business administration degree from the University of Kentucky.  She worked for the vast majority of her career as an administrative assistant in the Anatomy and Neurobiology department at the University of Kentucky, which she loved.

Following her retirement she enjoyed spending time with her many friends, finding joy with her bridge and book clubs as well as her “lunch bunch” friends in Lexington.  She was married to Harry Mason, although they later divorced.  She moved to Iowa in 2011 to be closer to her only sister.

Survivors include her sister, Patricia Kline of La Porte City, Iowa, three nieces (Diana Kline, Carolyn Martin, and Katherine Schmitz), and one nephew (David Kline).  She loved her Kentucky friends and missed them dearly.  Her family would like to sincerely thank everyone in Lexington who helped Dot later in her life there.

A memorial service will be held at a later date this spring or summer at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, where she will be interred according to her wishes next to her parents.
