Donna Mae Guenther, 92, of Oelwein, passed away Monday, March 14, 2016 at Mercy Living Plus in Oelwein, surrounded by her loving children.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 10:30AM at Peace Lutheran Church in Oelwein. Inurnment will be at Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Westgate, IA.
Donna was born on January 31, 1924 to Albert and Mamie (Ulish) Schroeder in Monona, Iowa. She married Richard Guenther on October 10, 1966 in Columbia, Missouri. Donna was the office secretary at Trinity Lutheran Church in Park Hills, Missouri for 21 years and she was also the President of Lady’s Aid for 9 years. She is a current member of Peace Lutheran Church in Oelwein. Donna loved to spend her time reading, cross stitching, making ceramics, and she loved to watch the hummingbirds. Most of all Donna loved her family.
Donna is survived by her two loving children Debra (Rollyn) Schroeder of Oelwein and Phillip (Carol) Thyer of Independence; step children: Rick (Judy) Guenther of Cedar Rapids, Beth Guenther of Florida, and Janette (Vernon) Vandersee of Oklahoma; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a niece; and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard on February 23, 2012, her parents, brother, Duane, sister, Dorothy, a grandchild, and a nephew.
