Aloys J. “Ollie” Santel, 72, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Northbrook Manor, Cedar Rapids.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Lebanon, IL at a later date. Inurnment will be held in St. Damian’s Cemetery, Damiansville, IL. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family locally.
Survivors include his wife Esther; Sons, Timothy J. (Gina) Santel of Thompson Station, TN, Terrence J. Santel of Cedar Rapids and Tod J. (Renea) Santel of Robins; 9 grandchildren, Cody and Shelby, Logan, Landon and Lily, Margaret, Joshua, Jacob and Ruth; Siblings, Robert Santel of Damiansville, IL, Bernadine Koopman of Damiansville, IL, Dolores Varel of Bartelso, IL and Diane Masterson of Damiansville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clemens and Sarah Santel, brother Alfred Santel, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Alvin and Dolores Beckmann, brother-in-laws and sister-in-law, Ralph Koopman, Jerome Varel and Lou and Phyllis Kohrman.
The family would like to especially thank the entire staff at Northbrook Manor who cared for him the last 22 months.
Memorials may be given in his name to Unity Point Hospice, 290 Blair’s Ferry Road NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
