Glenn H. Norton

Glenn H Norton passed away peacefully at the Lenox Care Center on Monday, June 13 2016.  He was 85 years old.
Glenn was born in Rochester, MN on June 18, 1930.  At the age of six weeks he was adopted from the Children’s Home in Council Bluffs, IA to loving parents H.A. and Margaret Norton.  In his early years they made their home in the Malvern area.  While there he enjoyed the company of his many cousins, gathering at his grandparents on Sundays.  At the age of twelve, he and his parents moved to a farm south of Lenox.  He became a member of the Methodist church at this time.  He graduated from the Lenox School, going on to attend Simpson College for two years.  After that he decided that farming was his future.  In 1951 he and Donna Richey were united in marriage.  They were blessed with three children; Glenna Lee, Jay H and Jan Elizabeth.

Glenn was a dedicated farmer.  He not only farmed many acres, but also raised cattle and hogs.  He served on the Lenox school board as President and had the honor of presenting his daughter Glenna with her diploma.  In 2005 after retiring he and Donna moved to Lenox.  They enjoyed playing golf with their friends.  He served on the city council, library board, Taylor Ridge board, church council and he also helped with the after school program for many years.  They enjoyed spending winters in Florida where golf was enjoyed every day.  While there they also enjoyed being with family and friends.  Above all, his family was his greatest joy.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, his parents in law, and his daughter Glenna.

He is survived by his wife Donna, his children Jay (Dee) Norton, and Jan (Joe) Dukes, grandchildren Chris Cox, Alicia Pettigrew, Bryan (Amy)Dorr, Ben (Rachel)Dorr, great grandchildren Christian Cox, Emma, Gabe and Addyson Pettigrew, Caden and Bryan Dorr, McKenna and Bennett Dorr and Many Cousins.
