Susan Snyder

Susan K. Potter Snyder of Mt. Pleasant died July 29, 2016 at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Mt. Pleasant on October 31, 1949 to Robert W. and Elberta A. Deam Potter.  In August of 1970, she married Michael Earp; on December 29, 1978 she married Jerry Snyder.

Susie was raised with one brother, Richard Kent Potter, and three step-brothers, Gary, Dennis, and Rick Trabert.

Susie grew up in the Mt. Pleasant School System and was a member of the class of 1968.  She attended the American Institute of Business and Iowa Wesleyan College.  Susie was employed at Iowa Wesleyan College for 20 years.

Susie was member of the First United Methodist Church.  Organizational involvement has been with the Salvation Army Board, Mt. Pleasant Little League and Hospice of Central Iowa, CURE, S.P.I.N, Safe coalition through the Extension Office, Child Advocacy and Foster Care Review Board.

Susie was blessed with two children, Michael Earp and Billi Jo Earp and four grandchildren: Tanner Earp, Scott Wichhart Jr., Bryce Chunn and Jacob Earp-Schillie, whom she loved dearly. 

Survivors also include a brother, Kent; step-brother, Rick. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, her father, mother, step-father, Virgil Trabert, an aunt, Vivian Deam, maternal grandparents, paternal grandparents, step-brothers Gary and Dennis.

Her body will be cremated and there will be a private family service.  Friends may gather to visit with the family at the Moose Lodge for a luncheon on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 11:30.

Memorials have been established for Hospice of Central Iowa, Iowa Wesleyan College and Friends of Iowa Child Advocacy Board.
