Charles "Chuck" Davis
Charles S. “Chuck” Davis, 69 of Cedar Rapids died Friday July 22, 2016 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife Donna, two daughters Jenny Petersen Frederick of Eugene, Oregon and Stacey (Jerry) Goeders of Dayton, Iowa; two brothers Timothy (Margaret) of Madison, Wisconsin and Ralph (Ella) of Jamestown, New York. He is also survived by three grandchildren Alex, Taylor and Tavin; a cousin Michael (Trish) Quinn of Polk City; nephews and nieces and many many special friends to include Dr. Harbans Deol and Becky Quinn. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Donna Kennedy and JoAnn Davis.
Chuck was born on March 29, 1947 in La Crosse, Wisconsin the son of Melvin and Wanda McDonald Davis. He graduated from U.N.I with a degree in sociology. Chuck married Donna M. Powell on November 19, 1982 in Monticello.
He was employed by the Dept. of Corrections for over 36 years and retired as an administrative law judge at the Oakdale Facility in 2006. He was not only supportive of the military but very proud of his war time service. He served in an Army infantry unit in Vietnam and was a former member of the VFW.
Chuck was a real people person. He had a quick wit, was a great story teller, and had a big heart. His greatest joy was spending time with his many friends and beloved family, especially his grandchildren. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established.
