Connie Delaney

Connie J. Delaney, 80, passed away on January 12, 2016, at 8:10am at the Kensington Assisted Living Center after a five year battle with Parkinson’s. 

Connie was born on August 15, 1935, in Omaha, Nebraska, daughter of John & Mildred Fellows. Connie married William Delaney on October 25, 1958, in Shenandoah. Connie is survived by daughter Debra Kallner and her son Aaron of Long Island, NY, son Michael & his sons Tyler & Brandon of Fort Madison, IA, Christopher & his wife Lisa their children Natalie, Nicholas, Benjamin, & Tessa of Marion, IA, and brother Larry & his wife Jeanne of Tucson, AZ,. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jon, husband William, and granddaughter Jennifer. 

Connie lived in many Iowa towns throughout her life, to include, Magnolia, Humboldt, Sheldon, Shenandoah, Union, New Providence, Iowa Falls, Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, & two Arizona towns, Williams & Flagstaff. Connie graduated from Iowa State University and was a respected teacher for 34 years. 
Connie touched many people in her lifetime. She was a caring wife, loving mother, and a loyal friend. Besides family, her teaching was her life-long dream. Connie’s goal was to positively influence as many kids as possible through her teaching and her positive personality. 

Connie was a devout Lutheran, enjoyed playing cards, reading, telling jokes, & volunteering her time to assist others. Once retired, Connie volunteered for the UIHC Volunteer Services as a Hospital Clown and Information Services. Connie also was a Sample Lady at the Coralville Hy-Vee, all which she treasured. 

Connie will be truly missed by many. Her non-judgmental personality and her acute ability to listen and counsel was a rare but cherished attribute. 

Connie’s children will be hosting a “Celebration of Life” service on Saturday, April 30, 2016, in at St.  Mark’s Faith & Life Center, 8300 C Avenue NE, Marion, IA 52302 Lutheran Church from 1 - 4pm. A memorial has been established in Connie’s name and will be shared between the Kensington Assisted Living Center in Fort Madison, Iowa, and Great River Hospice Care in Burlington, Iowa.
