“BT” was born to Bunyan Terrell Howell Sr. and Velma Jo (nee) Mays in Greenville, Texas on October 16, 1939. He was the older of two children. His father’s road construction business brought them to Cedar Rapids in 1946. He attended Wilson High School in SW Cedar Rapids, where he played football and met his future wife, Patricia Rozinek. He married her on September 8, 1959. Together, they had two children, Brian and Lisa. He transitioned from Howell Construction to a Cedar Rapids fireman in 1971, retiring in 1985. With Patsy, he managed the Kerr McGee gas station by Hawkeye Downs from 1977 to 1990. He last worked at the Walmart on Edgewood Road in 2008 as a greeter. He was a member of Saint Wenceslaus Church and the Knights of Columbus 5677, obtaining the 4th Degree in 1971 and becoming Grand Knight from 1970-71. He was grateful for his many friends in the CRFD and KC, who helped his family after his wife’s death, and for the care given him at Kingsley Shores.

He is survived by his children, Lisa (Tim) Hinricher of New Prague, MN and Brian Howell of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Samantha Howell, Tyler Howell, Madison Howell, Zachery Hinricher, Rebecca Hinricher, and Bailey Hinricher; his sister, Margaret L (Jack) Kaplan, and his uncle, Truett Mays.
