William G. Collins
Dear Jim, Sue, Bill and family, Dan and I were Bill and Eleanor's neighbors for many years. They were wonderful people, with good senses of humor. Eleanor's custard was a treat. Bill and I "competed" with yard work. We have missed Bill since he moved and were sorry to here of his passing. We wish you all the best in the future. Sue
Dear Jim and Bill and Sue. It's really an era ending with both of your parents now gone. I first remember them from my hs days when they were my CYO instructors, I think on Wednesday nights. And then your mother became my supervisor and mentor during my Admissions career. Both of your parents were mentors to an awful lot of people, always lending a helping hand whether professionally or personally. Truly good and caring and Christian people who have left behind them a wonderful legacy with their two sons and extended family. Your father was greatly missed when he left Middlebury but we can all take solace in the fact that he and Eleanor are together again, probably running the whole show in heaven. It was a very handsome picture of him that you put in his obituary. Ken and I look forward to our paths crossing with you when you're next in Middlebury. With all best wishes, Carolyn and Ken Perine
Jim, Susan and girls, I am so saddened by the passing of your father. When I began working for FmHA he was my boss. I will remember both your Dad and Mom with very fond memories. They were both wonderful people. I had looked forward to calling your Dad on his birthday or Christmas for the last few years. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Please let me know when services will be in Middlebury as we'd like to come.
We were so very saddened to learn of your Dad's passing. We have many fond memories of him.. Don would see him almost daily at our garage, Keeler's Gulf, where they would discuss the stock market and local and federal politics. I would see him daily at the court where I worked as Clerk and he served as Assistant Judge. He was truly a good man. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Dear Jim, Sue and family, I just read your dad's obituary and wanted to extend my condolences to you and your family regarding the passing of a wonderful man. He certainly made a major change in the lives of Addison County farmers with the inception of the Tri-Town Water District, yet for all the publicity remained a quiet unassuming man. I remember speaking with him at my grandmother's visiting hours and was pleased that he had taken the time to visit my family. He said that he had fond memories of my grandparents; perhaps through farm bureau or the grange. My fondest memory of your dad is from our youth when we would be meeting up at the house on Butternut Ridge and I would be welcomed into the living room where there was usually a Red Sox game on and the little TV was perched on top of the old console set. I'm happy your dad got to see the Sox as victors during his long life. Please pass on my best wishes to Bill also. And as the torch is passed from one generation to the next may your days ahead be filled with grace and joy of family and friends. Best Wishes, Larry and Sue Shepard
Bill Collins was the first Farm Loan Chief I worked for at Farmers Home Administration in Montpelier, VT after moving there from Massachusetts. Bill was a dedicated employee, who helped many farmers, families and towns in Vermont. I also was lucky to become a personal friend of Bill, and for many years enjoyed his laugh and gentlemanly ways. Bill and Eleanor were lovely people. I have often thought about Bill over the last few years after he moved. What a great Man and I am sure a huge loss to your family.
