Leo Johnson

Leo Robert Johnson 75, born 01-25-1941 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Passed on Aug. 24, 2016 after a valiant battle against cancer.

Leo was preceded in death by his two brothers, Leonard and Larry who passed as children. His father Leroy Robert, mother Helen Marie Forkner and stepmother Mary June Johnson.

Leo is survived by his companion of over thirty years Susan Stramel. His two sisters Pam and Patricia of Arizona. His son Leo, daughters Laura, Linda and Julieo.  Also many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Leo, being an extremely private man, wished for no service or tears. He felt that he had lived a full life and totally on his own terms. He wanted to be remembered for his loyalty to friends and his many talents. Among them restoring cars and motorcycles, operating heavy equipment and building and restoring homes. He loved his home, landscaping and his pets with a passion. Leo took great pride in always standing up for the under dog and never turning down a challenge.

Although Leo refused all visitors, he wanted to thank all those who sent their well wishes and prayers, and offered to help in any way they could. Anyone who truly knew Leo will miss him and remember him as a true one of a kind.

We wish to thank the staff of Hall-Perrine and Hospice, and his personal hospice nurse Cindy for being so kind and caring.
