Glenn Sheldon

Glenn E. Sheldon, 70, of Nashua, Iowa, died at Bartels Lutheran Home on Thursday, April 28, 2016 after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

He was born August 7, 1945 in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Irving and Marjorie Ihde Sheldon. He graduated from Plainfield High School in 1963.

He married Carol French on December 29, 1967, in Ionia, Iowa.

Glenn worked at the John Deere Product Engineering Center for 37 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of UAW 838 and worked as a union steward for 18 years. He farmed in Plainfield for 11 years prior to moving to Nashua in 1984.

Glenn enjoyed working on John Deere tractors, attending auctions, discussing politics, and spending time with his family and friends. He greatly enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities. 

Glenn is survived by his loving wife Carol of Nashua; daughter Tyann (Chris) Rouw of Cedar Falls; son Chad (Amy) Sheldon of Alexandria, VA; five grandchildren: Isaac, Noah, and Henry Rouw and Daisy and Charles Sheldon; one brother, Roger (Kandy) Sheldon of Denver, Iowa; two sisters, Joyce (Ron) Noble of Converse, TX and Julie Boeckmann of Albert Lea, MN; and one brother-in-law, Bill Desallier of Yakima, WA. 

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Nashua United Methodist Church. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to UnityPoint Hospice.
