Suzanne J. Petersen

Suzanne J. Petersen, 83, of Cedar Rapids died Sunday September 27, 2015 at her home. Memorial services at 11:00 AM on Friday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church where friends may call after 10:00 AM on Friday. Rev. Randy Kasch will officiate. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
 
Survivors include a son Eric (Tracy) and a daughter Pegi (Alex) Anton all of Cedar Rapids; four sisters, Janet Tremmel, Cathy Musulli, Patricia Johnson, Pamela Brown; and three brothers Gary, Robert and David Lobdell. She is also survived by six grandchildren Andrew, Thomas, Joseph and Anna Petersen and Katharine and Christian Anton. She was preceded in death by her husband Axel, a sister Leola Bivens and a brother Larry Lobdell.

Suzanne was born on December 16, 1931 in Belmond the daughter of Robert and Peggy Probst Lobdell. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA degree. Suzanne married Axel J. Petersen on February 14, 1959 in Iowa City. Axel passed away in 2009. She was an administrative assistant at Rapids Inc. and retired from there after many years of service.

Suzanne was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. She enjoyed Silver Sneakers, golf, bowling, NCAA Basketball, the Hawkeyes and especially her grandchildren. Suzanne’s memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Cedar Rapids Metro YMCA or to the Jefferson High School Booster Club.
